THE BLIMP
Playing their first gig in two years, The Blimp come to The Note, with their familiar punk, funk and blues style, which has been linked to fellow compatriots The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - the comparison coming from vocalist Rogues use of Glaswegian vernacular and spoken word. The band - who take their name from a Captain Beefheart song - made their final appearance in Nice & Sleazys, before vocalist Rogue, moved to San Francisco, so this gig is sure to be a long overdue homecoming.

Drive Carefully Records 3rd Birthday: WITHERED HAND / JAM ON BREAD / + 1 tba
Fence artist withered hand performs songs from his new Kramer produced album You're Not Alone' tonight, as well as the home made delights he recorded in his kitchen, no doubt! Intense, eccentric, bittersweet songs, which wrap up his experiences in the prettiest folk pop melodies. Without a doubt he is one of Scotlands finest imports, with a sound reminscent to that of Daniel Johnson.

Flatrate presents Initial Itch: Scratch Peformance, Poetry, Stand Up Comedy, Oratory and Live Music
This will not be another night encouraging new work, though we do hope new work and new performers will be encouraged along the way. What this night is about is giving the audience is a challenging, multifaceted evening with suprises around every turn, from which, they can return to your lives feeling inspired and maybe, just maybe a bit different. We will select our performers, from the seasoned, the fresh and the freshly seasoned performers from around Glasgow and will try to book for your pleasure the best the rest of the country has to offer. What can you expect when you join Rob - your lovable master of ceremonies - and the rest of us downstairs in the enigmatically damaged 13th note? Look out for... 'The Soapbox' -where we give a local politician or activist 5 min’s to live or die by their oratory skills and beliefs (To heckle is to live). ‘Subversion’ – When Steve will either actually manage to affect society by subverting the tools of marketing and involving you all in a conspiracy of diabolical intent, or at the very least fail with considerable aplomb. ‘The End’ – At the end of the evening we offer the opportunity to stay behind and listen to some of the best recordings of spoken word, old and new, from around the world. Add to all this, an enticing mixture of live performances from writers, poets, comedians, musicians and short and experimental film screenings... and you are going to be in for a treat...

AXXONN (Australia)
This Brisbane two piece make shoegazey intelligent dance music.. a cacophony of sound that feels like a rainbow sawing through your cranium (in a good way). They make songs about unicorns, showbags, stolen pens, J-Pop - and mashes it into shit, noise, dirt and distortion to come up with what can only be described as a mix between 'Powernoise & Icecream'. Lulling listeners into a false sense of security at times, AXXONN's aim is to transverse a number of genres, picking, choosing and using their favourite facets of black metal, doom metal, ambiance, electro and pop. Brisbane have been putting out a huge amount of expermental avant garde post rock in recent times, and this is a great example of what they have to offer.

End of the month club - Summer Special feat: FUTURISTIC RETRO CHAMPIONS / MISS LEGGY PEE / BOZILLA
PIf anyone misses The Flying Matchstick Men, then this is the One to Watch for you! Expect happy hardcore, ecstatic electronic beats, some super sleazy synths, and gorgeous melodies. Futuristic Retro Champions formed after being hired to write the soundtrack for an ill-fated, straight to VHS 2006 remake of Big Trouble in Little China. On their own, they are weak and powerless, but when they put their rings together and shout "let our powers combine" they become an awesome, unstoppable pop machine.
